Raymond Carey, 77, of Manalapan, passed away, Sunday, June 25, 2017, at VCU Medical Center, Richmond, VA. Born in Long Branch, NJ, he resided in Cliffwood Beach, NJ, prior to settling in Manalapan, NJ and Carson, VA. He worked as a carpenter for 45 years with Local 608, now known as Local 157, New York City, NY, retiring in 2000. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a member of the Old Hickory Hunt Club in Virginia. He also enjoyed sporting clay shooting at the Englishtown Range in New Jersey. He served his country in the U.S. Army during the late 50’s.
Raymond was predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Clara (Fritzinger) Carey. He was one of 21 brothers and sisters and had numerous nieces and nephews. He is survived by his beloved wife, Beverly (Lynch) Carey; five loving children, Raymond Carey, Jr.; Joseph A. Carey; James E. Carey; Denise M. Whitteaker and husband Anthony “Tony;” and Bruce W. Carey and wife Kristen; five cherished grandchildren, Samantha Carey, Heather Carey, Jessica Whitteaker, Abigail Carey and Bruce Carey, Jr.; and one precious great grandchild, Rayne. He will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by his family and friends.
Visitation will be held on Friday, June 30, 2017, from 2-4PM & 7-9PM, at Day Funeral Home, 361 Maple Place, Keyport, NJ 07735; and Saturday, July 1, 2017, 9:30 AM, with a 10AM service at the funeral home.
