Philip Francis Perry, 90, formerly of Hazlet, died on February 26, 2015, at Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel. Philip was born on September 17, 1924, to the late William and May Perry, and raised in Greenwich Village, NYC.  A WWII veteran, he enlisted in the United States Navy in 1943 and was stationed in the Pacific on the troop transport and hospital ship the U.S.S. Wharton (AP-7), earning three stars and a Victory Medal for service to his country.

At the conclusion of the war, Philip attended the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School of Business and began a distinguished 50-year career with Chemical Bank and Trust Company. A highly respected vice president responsible for check processing systems, he was part of the team that launched the first ATMs in the U.S.  After moving to NJ in 1958, he became an active member of St. Joseph Church, Keyport for more than 50 years, serving as parish council president and accountant for the church and St. Joseph School. He was a talented bowler and lifelong New York Giants fan. Philip was devoted to his family and proud of being a “tough old Irishman”.

Philip is survived by his children and their spouses: daughter Marianne P. Perry (Jeanette Laszczynski) of Halfmoon, NY and son Brian P. Perry (Janice) of Slatington, PA; two grandchildren, Candice Chase and Paul Keegan; five great-grandchildren: Brian, Mikel, Alexandria Chase; Lilly, Ryan Keegan; sister Patricia Gorman (Gregory), sister-in-law Ruth Murden; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his beloved wife of 64 years, A. Jeanne Perry; their infant daughter and infant son, Philip Michael; his cherished brother and sister, William and Joan; in-laws; and a dear niece, Jane Marie Murden.

Family and friends are invited Monday, March 2, 2015, from 10-10:45AM, at Day Funeral Home, 361 Maple Place, Keyport, NJ  07735; with an 11AM Mass of Christian Burial at St. Joseph RC Church, Keyport.  Entombment will follow at St. Joseph Mausoleum, Keyport.

The family offers deep gratitude to Dr. Magdy Nasra and to the caring staff at Arbor Terrace of Middletown.
