Philip J. Arnella
August 12, 1929 ~ August 19, 2015 (age 86) 86 Years OldPhilip J. Arnella, 86, formerly of Morgan, passed away, Wednesday, August 19, 2015, at De La Salle Hall, Lincroft. He was born in Brooklyn, raised in Hazlet, until his marriage to Doris (Henriksen), where they resided in Morgan for 58 years. He served his country in the U.S. Army as a telegraph operator during the Korean War. Philip spent his career as a purchasing agent with American Smelting and Refinery, Newark before retiring. He was a member of the Morgan Athletic Association where he ran the Umpire School. He also spent 10 years coaching baseball for American Legion Post #211.
Philip was predeceased by his beloved wife, Doris Arnella; and his parents, Bernardo and Maria (Donarumma) Arnella. He is survived by two loving children, Bernie Arnella and his wife Karen of Atlantic Highlands; and Mary Venezia and her husband Jim of Chatham; two brothers, Benedict Arnella and his wife Mary of Colts Neck; and Bernard Arnella of Freehold Township; five cherished grandchildren, Christopher Arnella and his wife Brittany; Jannien Herron and her husband Jack and Matthew Arnella and his wife Kellianne; David Venezia and Grace Venezia; and two adored great grandchildren, Connor and Claire Herron. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Family and friends are invited Sunday, August 23, 2015, from 4-8PM, at Day Funeral Home, 361 Maple Place, Keyport, NJ 07735. A service will be held at 10:15AM on Monday, August 24, 2015, at Day Funeral Home, followed by interment at St. Joseph Cemetery, Keyport.
