Muriel (Everard) Ashenden
February 24, 1932 ~ June 18, 2017 (age 85) 85 Years OldMuriel ''Nanny'' Ashenden, L.P.N., 85, of Old Bridge Township, passed away on June 18, 2017, at Raritan Bay Medical Center, Old Bridge. She was born in Cliffside Park on Feb. 24, 1932, the only child of the late George and Muriel Everard.
She started her nursing career as a baby nurse at the New York Foundling Home. She worked in the Perth Amboy Hospital nursery before accepting a position with Head Start of Middlesex County. She was proud of her lifetime of caring for children.
Muriel was a world traveler, and enjoying trips to New York for the theater, concerts and especially the Christmas show at Radio City Music Hall. She also loved going to Cape May beaches with family, and her dogs, which she doted on.
She married her high school sweetheart Arthur ''Kayo'' Ashenden and they were happily married until his passing in 2000. She is also predeceased by her daughter Muriel ''Cookie” Gross. Her beautiful smile and gentle cheerful disposition will be greatly missed by her son, James and wife Marianne; her cherished grandsons, Stephen and Thomas and his wife Kimberly; and a precious great grandson, Benjamin; as well as her extended family.
Visitation will take place on Wednesday, June 21, 2017, from 6PM-9PM, at Day Funeral Home, 361 Maple Place, Keyport, NJ 07735; and Thursday, June 22, 2017, 10AM, with a 10:30AM service at the funeral home.
