It is with extreme sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Matthew, age 41, on January 21, 2016.

Matt graduated from Keyport Central School, St. John Vianney High School and Albright College. He was raised in Keyport, and also lived in northern New Jersey, before moving to Seattle, where he resided the past 10 years.

Matt was predeceased by his beloved mother, Madeline Slocum; and maternal/paternal grandparents Doris and Bill Strang/Dorothy and Ralph Slocum.

He is survived by his wife, Cheryl (Santos); father, Daniel Slocum Sr.; brother, Daniel Jr.; sister, Katie; brother-in-law, Mike; and nephews, Owen and Dylan. He also leaves behind many heartbroken aunts, uncles, cousins, and very close friends.

Matt is remembered as a loving, funny, intelligent man with a larger-than-life personality. He will be dearly missed by all.

Viewing will be held at Day Funeral Home, 361 Maple Place, Keyport, N.J. 07735 on Saturday, January 30, 2016, from 2-4 pm & 7-9 pm, with a 3PM funeral service.  Cremation will be private.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Matt to the Alzheimer's Association at www.alz.org.  To post a condolence to the family or for directions to the funeral home, visit www.dayfuneralhome.com.
