Martin DeMonte
January 25, 1937 ~ April 16, 2015 (age 78) 78 Years OldMartin DeMonte, 78, of Old Bridge/Cheesequake Village, passed away, Thursday, April 16, 2015, at Bayshore Health Care Center, Holmdel. Born in Staten Island, NY, where he resided most of his life and moved to Old Bridge in 1998. He was a postal worker for the United States Postal Service in Staten Island, NY, retiring in 1996. Martin enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, playing golf and bowling in the Senior League at the Airport Plaza bowling alley. He coached football for many years in the Staten Island Pee Wee Football League and also coached baseball at East Shore Little League. He was an avid Giant, Mets and Rangers fan. He served his country in the Air Force during the Korean Conflict and was a member of the American Legion, Keyport.
Martin was predeceased by his parents, Michael and Amelia (Bertucci) DeMonte. He is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Rosemarie (Caputo) DeMonte; his loving children, a son, Martin DeMonte of Freehold and a daughter, Michelle Devlin of Staten Island, NY; a dear brother, Michael DeMonte of Toms River; and five cherished grandchildren, Robby Devlin, Rebecca Devlin, Alyssa Keul, Marisa DeMonte and Michael DeMonte. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
At the direction of the family, cremation was private. Day Funeral Home, 361 Maple Place, Keyport, NJ 07735 was entrusted with the cremation arrangements. A Memorial Mass is scheduled for Saturday, April 25, 2015, 9:00 AM at St. Lawrence RC Church, 109 Laurence Parkway, Laurence Harbor, NJ 08879. Burial of cremains will take place at a later date.
