Beautiful Abuela Nenita, you told me you hated that name, but it was so beautiful to me. Beautiful to hear as a child when I knew I would get to see you. Because I knew I would see your beautiful smile and hear your beautiful words and you would tell me I was beautiful too. I knew you would show me beautiful things like your furs and costume jewelry, and we would dress up and be beautiful. I knew you would teach me about beautiful things like decoupage, and gold leaf, and we would make beautiful mountains of roses out of velvet ribbons. I’m so thankful I had your beauty in my life, I hope you knew how much love and awe I had for you. You always shined, big, bright, gorgeous, beautiful. You are a part of me, a part of who I am, and I carry you always in my heart. May you shine in heaven and one day may we meet again.
