Lawrence “Larry” F. Vecchio, 76, of Matawan, passed away, Thursday, January 10, 2013, at home.  He was born in South Amboy, resided in Keyport, moving to Utah and Nebraska, before returning to New Jersey two years ago.  He was self-employed in insurance sales with Financial Service Network, Inc.  He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Keyport; and a professional entertainer with the internationally known musical group “The Viscounts,” who performed on television and stage shows throughout the country, including Dick Clark’s American Bandstand and the Merv Griffin show.  Larry also helped organize the St. Joseph CYO Little League; managing and coaching a team for seven years.  He was a charter member of the Keyport Indians Pop Warner Organization; a member of the Keyport Chamber of Commerce, wherein he chaired and originated the Christmas Tree Lighting program. He was also a member of the Keyport Kiwanis Club.  Larry was the Charter organizer of the Keyport Friends of Clearwater and had actively participated in the Saltwater Day Festival.

Larry was predeceased by his parents, Lawrence and Jennie Cusano Vecchio.  He is survived by his four sons, Lawrence J. and wife Patti of Holmdel; Anthony and wife Maurita of Keyport; Mark and wife Julie of Eastampton; and Joseph and wife Colleen of Keyport; one stepson, Nickolas of CA; 12 cherished grandchildren, Lauren, Nina, Anthony, Nicole, Nicholas, Mark, Jacob, Larry, Taralynn, Thomas, Joseph and Brian; and one great grandchildren, Maddox Christian, born Sunday, January 6, 2013.  He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Family and friends are invited, Sunday, January 13, 2013, 4-9PM at Day Funeral Home, 361 Maple Place, Keyport, NJ  07735, and Monday, January 14, 2013, 9:30AM at the funeral home, with a 10:30AM Mass of Christian Burial at St. Joseph RC Church, Keyport.  Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Keyport.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Larry’s memory to the Keyport Indians, P.O.
