Joseph F. Allocco, Jr., 71, of Middletown, passed away, Tuesday, August 23, 2016, at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune. Born in Red Bank, he resided in Hazlet before settling in Middletown 38 years ago. He worked as a lab tech with Ashland Chemical, Fords; then as a maintenance supervisor with Prudential Insurance Company, Holmdel and then with Vonage, Holmdel. He also worked part-time in the garden center of Dearborn Farms, Holmdel. Joseph served his country in the U.S. Army during Vietnam, as a 7th Field Hospital Medic in Japan. He was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church, Middletown. He was an avid gardener and shared his vegetable garden with family, neighbors and friends. He was also always up for a round of golf.
Joseph was predeceased by his parents, Joseph F. Allocco, Sr. and Assunta (Susie) Allocco. He is survived by his son, Joseph F. Allocco, III of Matawan; two brothers, Charles Allocco and his wife Laurie of Middletown; and Vincent Allocco of Middletown; a sister, Teresa Mattia and her husband Robert of Freehold; two nieces, Lisa Russo and her husband Daniel and Cheryl Villapiano and her husband Robert; two nephews, Michael Mattia and Daniel Mattia; and a great nephew, Matthew Villapiano. He will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by his family and friends.
Visitation will take place on Friday, August 26, 2016, from 2-4 & 7-9PM, at Day Funeral Home, 361 Maple Place, Keyport, NJ 07735; and Saturday, August 27, 2016, 8:45AM, at the funeral home, with a 9:30AM Mass of Christian Burial at St. Joseph RC Church, Keyport.
