John F. Barbato

John F. Barbato, 93, of Cheesequake Village section of Old Bridge, passed away, Thursday, September 22, 2016, at the Atrium, Matawan.  Born in Brooklyn, he resided in Middle Village Queens, prior to settling in Old Bridge 12 years ago.  He retired after 30 years as a printer with Sorg Printing Company, New York City, NY.  He served his country in the U.S. Army/Air Force during WWII serving in the Pacific theater.  John was a member of Union Local #6, the American Legion, the VFW and Club 60 Senior Club of Matawan.

John was predeceased by his beloved wife, Mary Barbato in 2005; his parents, Nicholas and Rose (Como) Barbato and 5 brothers and 3 sisters.  He is survived by his son, John V. Barbato and his wife, Rosemary of Aberdeen; a sister, Anna Stellato of Florida; and three cherished grandchildren, Christie and her husband Kevin Vollbrecht, John Jr. and Michael and his wife Erin, all of Aberdeen; and one precious great grandchild, Benjamin.  He was a compassionate, loving and caring man who will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by his family and friends.

Visitation will take place on Sunday, September 25, 2016 from 1-4 & 6-9PM, at Day Funeral Home, 361 Maple Place, Keyport, NJ  07735; and Monday, September 26, 2016, 8:30 AM at the funeral home, with a 9:30AM Mass of Christian Burial at St. Lawrence Church, Laurence Harbor.  Interment will follow at St. John’s Cemetery, Queens, NY.  To post a condolence to the family or for directions to the funeral home, please visit www.dayfuneralhome.com.
