James F. Drummond, Jr., 81, of Hazlet, passed away, Sunday, April 1, 2018, at home. Born in Brooklyn, NY, he resided in Brockton, MA and Pittsburgh, PA, before settling in Hazlet. He retired from Hartford Insurance Company, Hartford, CT, where he worked as an insurance agent for 28 years. He worked for Specialty Insurance, Wall, up until his final retirement. He coached Pop Warner football, hockey and baseball in Hazlet. He served his country in the U.S. Navy as a medic in the Korean War.
James was a loving and devoted son and husband and a great father, brother, and grandfather. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Barbara Ann Hebert; his parents, James F. Drummond, Sr. and Sally Schreiberman; and a brother, Peter Drummond. He was a great father to his loving children, Donna Schanck of Keyport; James F. Drummond, III and wife Miriam of Dallas, GA; Thomas Barry Drummond and wife Deidre of FL; Daniel Drummond and wife Susan of Aberdeen; and Mary Ruppert and husband Michael of Hazlet; a dear brother, Thomas Drummond of VA; 11 cherished grandchildren; and one precious great grandchild. He will be missed and fondly remembered by his family and friends.
Visitation will take place on Thursday, April 5, 2018, from 4-8PM, at Day Funeral Home, 361 Maple Place, Keyport, NJ 07735; and Friday, April 6, 2018, 8:30AM at the funeral home, with 9:30AM Mass of Christian Burial at Holy Family RC Church, Union Beach.
