James F. Allwell

On Sunday, December 15, 2013, James F. Allwell, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family.  Born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, he moved to Hazlet, NJ in 1973, where he resided until his retiring to the Pocono Mountains in 1999.  James spent much of his 35 year career working as an Ironworker throughout New York City.  Once he retired, James enjoyed spending time with his family and friends on his boat, traveling the Raritan Bay, as during that time, he was an avid fisherman.  He was also a past member of the Keyport-Matawan Elks Club for many years.

James was predeceased by his parents; and his first wife, Margaret Allwell.  He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Carolyn Allwell; three stepchildren, Stephen Fosse and his wife Lynn of Florida; Kirk Rose, Jr. and his wife Kristy of Old Bridge, NJ; and Kristin Rose of Keyport, NJ; his siblings, Gerald Allwell and his wife Cindy of Upstate, NY; Dennis Allwell of Upstate, NY; and Joyce Allwell of OK; four grandchildren, Jason, James, Jodi Lynn and Joseph; and many nieces and nephews; as well as many great nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited Wednesday, December 18, 2013; 2-4 & 7-9PM at Day Funeral Home, 361 Maple Place, Keyport, NJ  07735; with an evening service at the funeral home.   Cremation is private.  In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made in James’ honor to either the American Heart Association or the American Lung Association.  To post online condolences to the family or for directions to the funeral home, please visit www.dayfuneralhome.com.
