Grace M. Emond, 90, of Stamford, CT, passed away peacefully with family by her side on Tuesday, May 24, 2016.  Born in Brooklyn, NY, she resided in Matawan, NJ for 50 years, before moving to Stamford, CT, 2 years ago.  Before retiring in 1997, she earned a Master’s Degree in Childhood Education from Farleigh Dickinson University and worked as an elementary school teacher for 27 ½ years with the Matawan-Aberdeen School District, at Broad Street School.

 

Affectionately known as “Amazing” Grace, she was a world traveler visiting 4 continents and more than 25 countries; living her life to the fullest. She enjoyed attending cultural events such as the opera and ballet, and visiting museums. As a woman of strong faith, she was a member of St. Benedict RC Church and their Renew Group.

 

Grace was predeceased by her beloved husband, John Joseph “Jack” Emond whom she married June 24, 1950.  She is survived by her loving daughter, Valerie Emond Geerer and her husband Michael of Stamford, CT; a brother, John Marotta and his wife Mary of Los Angeles, CA; and many nieces and nephews. She will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by her family and friends.

 

Visitation will take place on Tuesday, May 31, 2016, from 2-4 & 7-9PM, at Day Funeral Home, 361 Maple Place, Keyport, NJ  07735; and Wednesday, June 1, 2016, 9:30AM at the funeral home, with a 10:30AM  Mass of Christian Burial at St. Benedict RC Church, Holmdel NJ.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Grace to the St. Joseph's Indian School, P.O.
