George F. Burns, Jr.

George F. Burns, Jr., 88, of Hazlet, passed away, Tuesday, May 10, 2016, at home.  Born in Manhattan, NY, he resided there before moving to Hazlet.  He was a graduate of Fordham University, NY.  He worked as an insurance underwriter with Hartford Insurance, retiring in 1985.  He was a voracious reader and he liked to be a tease.  He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

George was predeceased by his beloved wife, Ellen (Poyer) Burns in 2003; and his parents, George and Helen (Rinn) Burns, Sr.  He is survived by his sons, John (Tammy) of York, PA; Brian (Kristine) of Gilford; Robert (Kathy) of Berkeley Heights; George (Merle) of East Brunswick; and Richard of Hazlet; his cherished grandchildren, Nicole, Amanda, Colin, Ellen, Jillian, Lindsay, Brian, Robert, Kylee, Dylan, Jessica, Erica, & Alexander; and precious great grandchildren, Clara, Benjamin, Logan and Addison.  He will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by his family and friends.

Visitation will take place on Thursday, May 12, 2016, from 2-4 & 7-9PM, at Day Funeral Home, 361 Maple Place, Keyport, NJ  07735; and Friday, May 13, 2016, 9AM at the funeral home, with a 10AM Funeral Mass at Holy Family RC Church, Union Beach.  Interment will follow at Fair View Cemetery, Middletown.
