Frederick W. Wetzel

Frederick W. Wetzel, 81, of Cliffwood Beach, passed away, Tuesday, May 19, 2015, at home.  Born in Union, he was raised there until moving to Cliffwood Beach over 50 years ago.  He owned Carvel on Rt. 35, Cliffwood, from 1958 to 1966.  He worked as a foreman with American Cyanamid of Linden for 30 years before retiring.  He served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He was a member of the VFW of Freehold.

Frederick was predeceased by his parents, William and Elsie (Woodruff) Wetzel; and eight brothers and sisters.  He is survived by his beloved wife, Norma (Bauer) Wetzel; four loving daughters, Dawn Lombard of Manchester; Darlene Gallucci and husband Joseph of Sayreville; Debra Schwenk and husband Michael of Manalapan; and Dorothy Martin and husband James of Cape Coral, FL; a dear sister, Dolores Visco of Edison; cherished grandchildren, Paul Lombard, Jr.; Cori Ruiz and her husband Nelson; Dana Lombard and Amie Lombard; Joseph Gallucci, III; Devan Gallucci and Jade Gallucci; Nicole Birckbichler and her husband Michael; Tiffany Schwenk; Michael Schwenk; Hallie Slutter and Stone Martin; and two adored great grandchildren, Gabriella and Aiden.  He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews and friends, whom all held a special place in his heart.  He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
