Francis Xavier O'Connor

Francis Xavier O’Connor, 76, of Cliffwood Beach, passed away, Thursday, May 7, 2015, at Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel.  Born in Jersey City, he resided there before moving to Cliffwood Beach 50 years ago.  He served his country in the U.S. Air Force and was honorably discharged.  He worked 41 years for the Erie Railroad as a mechanic and served as chairman for the Eastern Division.  For 35 years, he was a supervisor with the Port Authority of NY/NJ Path Division.  He also served as the Division Head of Safety for many years and was the General Chairman of the Supervisors Union for eight years.  Francis and his crew freed a person who was pinned under a train at Grove Street.  For 19 years, he was a member of the Keyport Matawan Elks, including being past Head of Trustee, past Trustee and past Elk of the Year.

Francis was predeceased by his parents; all his siblings and a son, Peter Paul Sena.  He is survived by the most precious part of his life, his beloved wife, Hally.  Her love was what kept him going.  He is also survived by his children, Frankie O’Connor, Jr. of Florida; Doreen Hynes of Kentucky; and Michael O’Connor of Indiana; his granddaughter, Kissy; three grandsons and one great grandchild.  He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
