Cornelius D. Spangler

Cornelius D. Spangler, 74, of Union Beach, passed away, Thursday, December 7, 2017, at Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel.  Born in County Kerry, Ireland, he moved to the United States in 1964 and resided in Newark, before settling in Union Beach for the past 44 years.  He worked as a painter with Union Local DC11, Newark.  Cornelius was a parishioner with Holy Family RC Church, Union Beach.  He loved fishing and Kerry football, but his grandchildren were his whole life.

Cornelius was predeceased by his parents, Charles and Kathleen (Courtney) Spangler.  He is survived by his beloved wife, Hanna (Corridon) Spangler; his three sons, Patrick of Howell, Michael of Union Beach and Brian of Manville; his two brothers, Karl of Ireland and Patrick of Eatontown; and his eight cherished grandchildren, Shannon, Kyle, Devin, Derek, Jake, Katie, Brady and Olivia.  He will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by his family and friends.

Visitation will be held on Monday, December 11, 2017, from 4-8PM, at Day Funeral Home, 361 Maple Place, Keyport, NJ  07735; and Tuesday, December 12, 2017, 8:30AM at the funeral home, with a  9:30AM Mass of Christian Burial at Holy Family RC Church, Union Beach.  Entombment will follow at St. Joseph Mausoleum, Keyport.
