Clorinda "Clara" (Capasso) Higgins

Clorinda “Clara” Higgins, 97, of the Cheesequake Village section of Old Bridge, passed away, Wednesday, January 30, 2013, at home.  Born in Newark, she resided there before moving to Cheesequake Village 42 years ago.  For over 20 years, she worked as a machine operator at Yale Hook and Eye, Newark.  Clara was a member of St. Gerard’s Ladies Guild; the Cheesequake Village Association and the Golden Achievers.  She was a devoted and loving mother to her family.

Clara was predeceased by her beloved husband, James Higgins; her parents, Guiseppe and Josephine Capasso; a daughter, Helen Watkins; a son, John Higgins; and siblings, John Caspasso and Frances Durante.  She is survived by her loving children, James Higgins and wife Janet of Toms River; and Joseph Higgins of Matawan; a daughter-in-law Florence Higgins of Hazlet; a son-in-law George Watkins of West Paterson; a dear sister, Lena Delvirginia of Toms River; a brother, Salvatore Capasso of Canada; six cherished grandchildren; seven adored great grandchildren; one precious great great grandchild and many nieces and nephews. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Family and friends are invited Saturday, February 2, 2013, 7-9PM and Sunday, 2-4 & 7-9PM at Day Funeral Home, 361 Maple Place, Keyport, NJ  07735; and Monday, 8:30 AM at the funeral home, with a 9:15 AM Mass of Christian Burial at St. Joseph RC Church, Keyport.  Interment will follow at Mt.
