Catherine (Pittaro) Chieco

Catherine (Pittaro) Chieco, 93, of Hazlet, passed away peacefully, Wednesday, June 21, 2017, at home.  She was born in New York City and resided in Greenwich Village prior to settling in Hazlet 60 years ago.  Prior to her retirement, she worked as a clerk with Raritan Township Pharmacy, Hazlet.  She was also a member of the Altar Rosary Society of St. Benedict RC Church, Holmdel.

Catherine was predeceased by her beloved husband, Sebastian Chieco; her parents, Dominic and Angelina (Lamorte) Pittaro; and three brothers, Vincent, Anthony and Frank Pittaro.  She is survived by her loving children, David Chieco and his wife Ruth and Susan Chieco; a sister, Gloria Brennan of Levittown, L.I., NY; two cherished grandchildren, Marisa Christmas and David Jonathan Chieco; and five precious great grandchildren, David James, Jack, Kiara, Billy and Jessica.  She will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by her family and friends.

Visitation will be Friday, June 23, 2017, from 4-8PM, at Day Funeral Home, 361 Maple Place, Keyport, NJ  07735; and Saturday, June 24, 2017, 9AM at the funeral home, with a 10AM Mass of Christian Burial at St. Benedict RC Church, 165 Bethany Road, Holmdel, NJ  07730.  Entombment will follow at St. Joseph Mausoleum, Keyport.  IN LIEU OF FLOWERS, the family requests that donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association www.alz.org in memory of Catherine.
