Caroline (DiGennaro) Pittius, 90, a lifelong resident of Hazlet, passed away, Wednesday, October 11, 2017, at Regency Park Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Hazlet. She was born in Hoboken. Caroline served in the U.S. Army for four years as an interpreter for the Italian war prisoners. She was the secretary for St. Benedict RC Church rectory for 10 years; a safety specialist for 17 years, retiring in 1990, from the DMV, Eatontown; and also worked for Hazlet Township Police Department for 10 years as the supervisor of Traffic Safety. She was a communicant of St. Joseph RC Church, Keyport.
Caroline was predeceased by her beloved husband, Joseph H. Pittius; her parents, Antimo and Antoinette (Companille) DiGennaro; a brother, Salvatore DiGennaro; a sister, Camille DiGennaro; and a son-in-law, John Carr. She is survived by her two loving daughters, Annette O’Brien and husband Patrick of Keyport and Lillian Carr of Manalapan; her siblings, Guy DiGennaro, Bridgett Cannamella, Vincent DiGennaro and Frank DiGennaro; four cherished grandchildren, John Young and Lisa Pepe and her husband David and Megan and Kathryn (Katie) O’Brien; and two precious great grandchildren, Vincent Joseph and Michael Donato. She will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by her family and friends.
Visitation will take place on Friday, October 13, 2017, from 4-8PM, at Day Funeral Home, 361 Maple Place, Keyport, NJ 07735; and Saturday, October 14, 2017, 8:15AM at the funeral home, with a 9AM funeral mass at St. Joseph RC Church, Keyport.
