Anthony L. Bruno

Anthony L. Bruno, 87, of Hazlet, passed away, Tuesday, September 29, 2015, at home, comfortably with his family by his side.  Born in Perth Amboy in 1928, he was raised in Newark by immigrant parents.  He attended Boston University, Columbia University and received his Masters from Rutgers University.  He worked for the Hazlet Board of Education as a teacher and then principal for 38 years.  He served his country in the Armed Forces and was a Mensa member.

Anthony was a Hazlet resident for 50 years.  He was admired and respected by his neighbors and the community.  He was truly a kind, humble, gentle, compassionate, generous, open hearted and open minded person to everyone.  He was deeply loved by his children and grandchildren.  He was an inspiration to many.  He loved many things, including literature, theater, humor, music, knowledge and above all family.

Although he did not want it written in his obituary that he enjoyed trips to Atlantic City, he did….

Anthony was predeceased by his parents, Giacomo and Giovanna Bruno; his brother, Pasquale; and his sisters, Domenica and Adeline.  He is survived by his four daughters, Giavanna, Felicia, Carina and Cecily; seven grandchildren, Guy, Simone, Angel, Sonny, Mitchell, Celeste and Yvonne; and his beloved long-time partner, Judith Daugherty.
