Anna M. Perno (Rizzo), 94, of Lincroft (formerly of Hazlet), passed away at her home on August 1, 2016.

Farming was a way of life for Anna, from her family’s farm in Matawan, to her husband’s family farm in Hazlet and she still enjoyed growing her very special tomatoes every year.  Her favorite pastime was cooking for her family, friends and anyone else who came along.  It was not unusual to have ten or twelve people for lunch at “The Farm” and last minute guests were never a problem as her door was always open.

Anna worked for many years with the Central Shore Chapter of Deborah Hospital.  She was a lifelong communicant of St. Joseph RC Church, Keyport and an active member of their Altar & Rosary Society and Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Society.

Anna was predeceased by her loving husband Jerry in 1979.  Together they owned and operated Jerry’s Brook Farm in Hazlet.  Anna is also predeceased by her siblings, Antonette Ciaglia, Sam Rizzo, Joseph Rizzo, Carmella Parella and Rose Montanaro.

Anna is survived by her sister Marie Kaiser and her special brother-in-law Bill Kaiser; her daughters and sons-in-law, Rose Ann Hendricks and Charles of Colts Neck, Carmella McKeel and Joseph of Princeton, ME, Christina Bailey of Jacksonville, FL, Geraldine Villa and Joseph of Middletown and Francine Herrick and Daniel of Lincroft.

She is also survived by her grandchildren, Chuck, Mariana and Jerry Hendricks, Jennifer St. Peter, Jason McKeel, Ann-Marie Woody, Trista Salerno, Ted Bailey, Joseph and Jennaro Villa and Graham Herrick.  Anna’s family also includes 15 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins, who all loved her dearly.

Visitation will take place on Thursday, August 4, 2016, from 2-4 & 7-9PM, at Day Funeral Home, 361 Maple Place, Keyport, NJ  07735; and Friday, August 5, 2016, 9:30AM at the funeral home with a 10:30AM Mass of Christian Burial at St. Joseph RC Church, Keyport.  Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Keyport.  Donations may be made to Deborah Hospital at www.deborahfoundation.org.
