TAYLOR, Edward M., 75, of Matawan, passed away Monday, August 4, 2008, at Bayshore Community Hospital , Holmdel.

Edward is survived by his wife, Frances Helfrich Taylor; a daughter and son-in-law, Kelly and Brian Foley; a daughter, Amy Taylor; and three grandchildren, Laura, Kevin and Caitlin.

ZEISER, William W., 59, of Union Beach , passed away at University Hospital , Newark , on Saturday, August 2, 2008.  

 

Born in Glendale , NY, he resided in Hawley and Honesdale , PA , before moving to Union Beach 21 years ago.  He was employed as an electrician with IBEW #3, New York , NY for 41 years, retiring in 2007.  He was a S.A.L. member of Post #321 American Legion, Union Beach ; the Keyport Fishing Club and a former Mason.  Bill will fondly be remembered for his famous “Happy Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, etc.” greeting.  Whichever day it happened to be, happy thoughts were sent out to all.

 

Bill was predeceased by his father, George Zeiser.  Surviving are his wife, Stella (Nykaza) Zeiser; his mother, Alice (Eidberger) Zeiser of Hawley, PA; two stepchildren, Douglas and his wife, Angela Longmore of New Glarus, WI, and Lee Longmore of Ellensberg, WA; siblings, Alan and his wife, Susan Zeiser of Stafford, VA; Steven and his wife, Vicki Zeiser of Pleasant Mount, PA and Nancy and her husband, Dennis Pace of Hawley, PA; godchild, Robin Hocker of Hawley, PA; several nieces and nephews and several great nieces and nephews.

MARY GIUGLIANO LEWIS OF MORGANVILLE –  died Sunday, August 03 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital , New Brunswick .  She was 85.

 

Born in Matawan, she resided in Morganville for several years. Prior to her retirement 20 years ago, she was a bank teller at Summit Bank in Matawan for 19 years. She was a communicant of St. Joseph Church , Keyport.

 

Surviving are a daughter, Karen Lewis of North Dakota ; two sisters, Minnie Nunziato of North Carolina and Angela Waits of San Antonio, TX; six grandchildren, Fred Kramer and his wife Karen , Victoria Kramer, Gabriel Karmaou, John Karmaou, Justin Moroskie and Ashley  Moroskie; and four great grandchildren.

ROBERT F. BONIS OF HAZLET – died Saturday, August 02, 2008 at St. Peter’s University Hospital , New Brunswick .  He was 53.

 

Born in Perth Amboy , he resided in Hazlet for the past several years. He worked as a foreman for Amtrak in Newark , and also had worked as a General Contractor. He was a member of several motorcycle organizations and had participated in many charity runs.

 

Surviving are a daughter, Marianne Kolodziej of Hazlet; two step children, Melissa Neville and Joey Garcia, both of Hazlet; his mother and step-father, Florence Atamborski Pizzi and Fred Pizzi of Hazlet; his fiancé, Wendi Poling of Hazlet; a granddaughter, Alexis Kolodziej and 5 step grandchildren.

PETER A. RUSSO OF PORT MONMOUTH – died Friday, August 1, 2008 at Bayshore Community Hospital , Holmdel.  He was 57.

 

Born in Brooklyn , NY , he resided in Hazlet and Palm Coast , FL before moving to Port Monmouth 6 years ago. He was a security guard for Ft. Monmouth for eight years.  Prior to that he worked in law enforcement for many years. Peter proudly served his country in the Navy during the Vietnam Conflict, and was a life member of Disabled American Veterans, as well as a member at large of the American Legion.  He was also a member of the Matawan Italian American Club.

 

Surviving are his wife, Heather Boyce Russo; a son and daughter in law, Salvatore Russo and Kristen Edminsten of Port Monmouth; a daughter, Amanda Russo of Port Monmouth; his parents, Philip Russo and Josephine Jairaffo Russo, of Marlboro; his siblings, Philip of Charlotte, NC, Carmela of Bear, Del, Lucyann  Lester of Las Vegas, NV, Gerard of Cream Ridge, and Domenic of Brick; and a granddaughter, Christina Russo.

WALLACE, Joseph S., DDS, 66, of Matawan, passed away Thursday, July 31, 2008, at home.  Born in South Amboy, he resided in Matawan.  

He was a dentist in Cliffwood , NJ , for 41 years, before retiring in 2007.  He was a former Matawan Councilman; president of Lochslea Heights ; and a communicant of St. Joseph ’s RC Church, Keyport.  He served his country in the Navy during Vietnam .

Joseph was predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Mary (Adario) Wallace.  Surviving are his wife, Patricia (Gorzynski) Wallace; two daughters and son-in-laws, Peggy and Andrew Sinkleris of Yardville , NJ and their children, Ryan and Evan; and Cathy and David Palmieri of Metuchen; and a sister and brother-in-law, Rose Marie and Joseph Graceffo of Wanaque , NJ .

NICORA, James F., Sr., 62, of Matawan, passed away Wednesday, July 30, 2008, at home.  

Born in Long Branch , he was a lifelong resident of the Aberdeen/Matawan area.  He worked as a truck/heavy equipment operator and a dispatcher with Stavola Contracting Co., Tinton Falls , and also owned and operated Janic Trucking, Inc. of Matawan.  He was a Eucharistic Minister with St. Joseph ’s RC Church, Keyport; and was an honorary life member with the Matawan First-Aid Squad.

James was predeceased by his parents, Andrew and Louise (Rettagliata) Nicora; and a grandson, Cory Snyder in 2007.  Surviving are his wife, Lois ( Wilson ) Nicora; his five children and their spouses, Dawn Nicora and husband, James Snyder of Matawan; Carol Tanchak of Middletown ; Bernadette and Martin Fitzpatrick of Middletown ; James F. and Susan Nicora, Jr. of Jackson; and Andrea Nicora of Brick; a sister, Rosemarie Perkins-Barbieri of Coconut Creek, FL; and grandchildren, Jessica, Gary, Johnny, Kristen, Reilly, Seth, Christopher, Sean, Ciara, James F. KUDRICK, Gary George, 70, of Holmdel, passed away Thursday, July 24, 2008, at Robert Wood Johnson University Medical Center , New Brunswick .  

Born in Perth Amboy , he resided there until moving to Holmdel 46 years ago.  Gary was a self-employed barber for many years and worked initially at Jimmy Mulaney's Barber Shop and for the remaining years at Tommy’s Barber Shop, Matawan, before retiring in August 2007.  He was a professional scuba diver, traveling around the world diving; he taught scuba diving at Professional Divers, Neptune; and was a self made man.  He proudly served his country in the US Marine Corp. from 1956-1960.

Gary was predeceased by his parents, Andrew and Catherine (Batiuk) Kudrick.  Surviving are his daughter and son-in-law, Kimberly and Dr. Calvin Chatlos of Old Bridge; his girlfriend, Barbara Botis, with whom he lived in Holmdel for 35 years; two grandchildren, Taylor and Liviya; and his former wife, Judith C. Kudrick.

ERRICO, Beatrice Duffy Moelius, 50, affectionately known as “flea” by her brother, died Friday, July 25, 2008 at St. Francis Hospital , Trenton .  

Born in Perth Amboy , she resided in Matawan most of her life before moving to Brigantine 7 years ago.  Prior to her retirement in June, 2008, she was a security officer with Harrah’s Casino in Atlantic City for 3 years. She was a communicant of St. Clement’s Church, Matawan, and was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Hook & Ladder Fire Company #1, Matawan; as well as the Cliffwood Volunteer Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary.

BUSTIN, Richard H., 70, of North Middletown , passed away Thursday, July 24, 2008, at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank.  

Born in Hoboken , he resided in Jersey City for most of his life, before moving to North Middletown many years ago.  He was employed as a Hi-Lo Driver for US Trucking, Secaucus, NJ for 15 years; and then as a floor waxer for NJ Window Company for several years. He served his country in the Army.

CONNELLY, Silvana, 73, of Whiting, with relatives in Monmouth and Ocean County , passed away Monday, July 21, 2008, at home.  

Born on September 30, 1934 in Italy , she moved to the United States in 1964.  She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and one of the world’s best cooks.

Silvana was predeceased by her parents when she was a young girl in Italy .  She was the youngest of 12 children.  Surviving are her children and their families; Christine Connelly-Robinson and her husband Christopher, along with their children, Erin and Eric, and great grandson, Jeffrey, all of Florida ; Linda Michaud-Estelle and her husband David, along with their children, Glen Michaud, Jr., David and Tara Ann Estelle of Union Beach; Michael Connelly and his wife Christine, along with their children, Amanda and Kieren; Anthony Connelly and his son, Tyler of Brick.  She is also survived by her ex-husband, George Connelly of Hazlet; and many other relatives in the United States and Italy .   She also leaves behind a dear friend, Mary Perrone, who was always at her side with a helping hand.  She will be greatly missed by all.

Born in Long Branch , he was a lifelong resident of Keyport.  He was a student at Keyport Central School .  He was a communicant of Jesus the Lord Church .  He loved wrestling, Pop Warner football, and Bayshore Little League baseball. He was a part of the Potholders R Us, with his second grade class, donating to the Sunshine House in Point Pleasant .

ALFRED L. CURTH died Sunday, July 20, 2008 at Bayshore Community Hospital , Holmdel.  He was 75.

 

Born in Brooklyn , NY , he resided in Ozone Park before moving to Hazlet 41 years ago. Prior to his retirement in 1995, he was a finance manager for Fiduciary Trust at 2 World Trade Center, 97th floor for 18 years.  Prior to that, he worked for Gilligan and Will in Manhattan , also as a finance manager for 18 years. He was a great basketball coach for HYAL, and loved thoroughbred horse racing, golf, Frank Sinatra and the Mets. He was a member of King of Kings Lutheran Church, Middletown .

 

He was predeceased by his wife, Agnes Donahue Curth in November, 2007.
Surviving are two sons, Bob of Concord, NC and Bill of Woodbridge; two daughters, Marion Layton of Hazlet and Mary Fedorco of Hazlet; his best sister in the world, Barbara Costello of Seaford, NY; a special sister in law, Margie Koster of New Hyde Park, NY; and seven grandchildren, Ryan, Megan, Erin, Brian, Evan, Matthew and Daniel.

SICKLES, Robert H., Jr., 53, of Union Beach , passed away Wednesday, July 16, 2008, at home.  

Born in South Amboy, he resided in Hazlet for 28 years, prior to moving to Union Beach .  He was a union carpenter with Local #2250, Red Bank for the past 28 years.  He was an avid model train hobbyist; a gifted craftsman, and had a great love for animals.

ZALEWSKI-HOWARTH, Bonnie, 60, of Middletown , passed away Wednesday, July 16, 2008, at home.  

Born in Long Branch , she was a lifelong resident of Keansburg. She was a waitress and bartender at a local restaurant and tavern, and the activities coordinator at McGrath Towers , Keansburg, for two years. Bonnie was a member of the Bayshore Wheeler Motorcycle Club.  Not only was she our mother, but our best friend.  She was loved by everyone she met.

Bonnie was predeceased by her parents, Anthony and Mary (Debesky) Weber; a brother, Anthony Weber and a sister, Margaret Albe.  Surviving are her three children, Sharon Barger of Aberdeen ; Carlo Zalewski, Jr. of Barnegat; and Toni Cribbin of Middletown ; a sister, Sharon Weber of Manahawkin; and a brother, Gary Weber of Brick; and nine grandchildren.

Richard C. “Dick” McQuestion of ABERDEEN – went to be with the Lord Jesus Christ on Friday, July 11, 2008 at Bayshore Community Hospital , Holmdel.  He was 84.

Born in New York , NY , he resided in Bronxville before moving to Aberdeen in 1964. Prior to his retirement in 1993, he was a sales manager for Berlin and Jones in East Rutherford for 45 years, and was received awards for top salesmanship several times. He was an Army Veteran of WW II, having participated in the Invasion of Normandy.  Wounded twice and returned to the front lines, he received a bronze star and the combat infantry badge.  He also served as a drummer for the Army band, and was a great admirer of General George Patton. Dick was witty, fun, and had a great sense of humor.  He loved his family, his friends and his home.  He enjoyed traveling, and visited Ireland twice.  One of his great loves was dancing to Irish music, and he was considered a groupie to the Willie Lynch Band and the Round the House Band. He was a member of the Irish Federation of Monmouth County and was a former member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians.  He was also a member of VFW #2179 in Middletown .

He was predeceased by his parents, Charles McQuestion and Emily Schneidt McQuestion Splain, his step father, Joseph Splain, a brother, Herbert McQuestion and his sister Florence Ebecke.
Surviving are his wife of 53 years, Helen “Mickey” Reffler McQuestion; a son, Richard and his wife Lori of Pompano Beach, FL; a daughter Tracie Ramirez and her husband Robert of Parlin; a brother, Roy McQuestion of Riverdale , NY ; two granddaughters, Bianca and Rebecca; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.

CHANDLER , Paul, 55, of the Monmouth County area, passed on to be with the Lord on July 8, 2008.  

He was born in Camp Kilmer , NJ , and made the Jersey Shore his home. He was an Optician by trade, but he was passionate for sports, especially the NY Yankees and Washington Redskins.

Paul was predeceased by his father, William, an American Indian, and a WWII and Korean War Veteran; and his best friend, Henry Zalewski.  He is survived by his adoring wife, Cindy; two beautiful daughters from his first marriage, Amanda Amaral of RI; and Alyssa Iddings of PA; and the joy of his life, his precious granddaughter, Reily Jean Amaral; his mother, Helen Chandler; loving siblings, William, Helen, Michael, Robert, Linda and Donna; a fantastic family of in-laws; and 12 very special nieces and nephews.

BELLIVEAU, Rose Mary T. (McCauley), 61, of Cliffwood Beach , passed away Tuesday, July 8, 2008, at Riverview Medical Center

Born in Jersey City , she resided in Newark and Middletown , before moving to Cliffwood Beach . She worked for Unlimited Auto, Keyport, as a bus aide for special needs children; and Funtime, Cliffwood, as she loved being around all children.

Rose was predeceased by her parents, Elwood and Theresa McCauley; and a brother, Anthony Mosiello.  Surviving is her husband, Robert; a daughter, Catherine McCauley; a son, Kevin; a sister, Marlene Holsten; a brother, Robert Taylor; a sister-in-law, Mary Mosiello and a grandchild, Francesca D’Andrea.

BARRETT, Marian Louise, 54, of Keyport, passed away Saturday, July 5, 2008, at Bayshore Community Hospital , Holmdel.  

Born in South Amboy, she was a lifelong resident of Keyport. She was a communicant of St. Joseph ’s Church, Keyport.  She was employed as a dental technician with Annalan Dental Lab, Union Beach , for 40 years, before retiring in 2004, to be the caregiver for her parents. She was a volunteer and fundraiser for the Popcorn Park Zoo.

Marian was predeceased by her parents, Eugene E. and Genevieve R. (Poling) Barrett; and a brother, Eugene W. Barrett.  Surviving are her brothers and sisters, James Barrett of Athens, TN; Judith Wolf of Rumson; Susan Grzyb of Little Egg Harbor; Carol Riley of Florence; William Barrett of San Jose, CA; and Genevieve Bagnell of Monmouth Junction; several nieces and nephews; and her beloved dog, Samantha.

HESTER, Joan E. (Mania), 74, of Hazlet , passed away at home, Sunday, July 6, 2008, surrounded by her loving family and friends.  

Born in Pittsburgh , PA , she resided in Keyport, before moving to Hazlet 46 years ago.  She was a communicant of St. Joseph ’s Church, Keyport.  She was a homemaker, who cared for her family, and was the best mother, grandma, and great grandma.

Joan was predeceased by her parents, Leo and Jane (Przeracki) Mania.  Surviving are her children, Howard Hester and his wife, Theresa, of Keyport; Connie Anderson and her husband, George, of Union Beach; and Deborah Shah of Hazlet; her former husband, Palmer Hester, of Ocean; a brother, Leo Mania, Jr. and his wife, Carol, of Keyport; ten grandchildren, George and his wife, Jean; Jaclyn; Pauly; Howard Jr.; Christopher; Michelle: Sean; Uzma; Kiran; and Hussain; two great grandchildren, George, the 5th; and Julia; niece, Dana Mania; many friends and neighbors; and her beloved cat, Moses; and her dog, Zsa Zsa.

LEONARDO – BLAIR R. “Bubba” SCHALLER died Saturday, July 5 at home.  He was 44.

 

Born in Red Bank, he resided in Union Beach for many years before moving to Leonardo 10 years ago. He worked as a flooring contractor for the last 23 years. He enjoyed fishing, boating and cooking.

 

He was predeceased by a sister, Mybrit R. Schaller, and by a brother, Geoffrey “Pudge” Schaller. Surviving are his wife of 9 years, Theresa Hornedo Schaller; his step children, Erin Keenan Schaller, David Keenan and Brandon Keenan, all of Leonardo; his three sons, Justin Schaller of Marlboro, Brandon Schaller and Dylan Schaller, both of Union Beach; brothers and sisters Lance of Florida, Wade of Hazlet, Kurt of Keansburg, Andrea Zarzycki of Keansburg and Dorian of Englishtown; and many nieces and nephews.

PINTO, Felisa A., 88, of Keyport, passed away at home on Thursday, July 3, 2008.  Born in the Philippines , she moved to Keyport in 1991.  She was a homemaker.

Felisa was predeceased by her parents, Guadalupe and  Marcelina (Bautista) Arcia; and a son, Rogelio Pinto.  Surviving is her husband, Bernard L. Pinto; her children, Dionisia P. Bizarra of Darien , IL ; Juanito Pinto and Mercedes P. Pascua, both of the Philippines; Severo Pinto of Alberta, Canada; and Norma Pinto of Keyport; two brothers and five sisters, all in the Philippines; 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

O’CONNOR, John W., 81, of Hazlet, passed away Tuesday, July 1, 2008, at Bayshore Community Hospital , Holmdel.  

Born in West Orange, he resided there until moving to Hazlet 48 years ago.  He served in the Navy during peacetime.  He loved golf and he loved his family.  John was employed with Pathmark, Hazlet , as a security receiver, before retiring in 1997.

John was predeceased by his parents, James and Julia (Farley) O’Connor.  Surviving are his wife, Dawn (Hardina) O’Connor; his children and their spouses, Jacqueline O’Connor and her husband, Robert Blinar of Neptune; Shamus O’Connor and his wife, Kelly Conway of Bethlehem, PA; Julia O’Connor and her husband, Timothy Cotton of Matawan, NJ; Alice T. and Robert Zanzalari of Barnegat; Sean and Deanna O’Connor of Burlington Twp., and Cathy and John Beck of Wall; 15 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

Born in Brooklyn , NY , she resided in Jersey City , until moving to Keyport in 1992.  She was employed as a packer with Saint-Gobain Containers, Carteret, before retiring at the age of 62.  She was a member of the Community Church of Keyport.

KUDASH, Genevieve D., 67, of the Matawan section of Old Bridge , passed away unexpectedly at home on Monday, June 30, 2008.

Genny was born in Newark , NJ , and lived there until 1956, when she moved to the Cliffwood Beach section of Aberdeen Twp.  She graduated from Matawan H.S., and immediately went to work for INCO, New York City , where she worked until retirement in 2002.  She enjoyed going on the senior trips with the Aberdeen Senior Club, where she was a member, and also the day trips to Atlantic City with her friends at Bethany Manor. 

Genny was predeceased by her husband, Osmond, in 1994; and her mother, Betty Munley, who was her best and closest friend, who past just four months ago.  She is survived by her only sister, Judith Priccaciante of Brielle; her godchildren, Lisa Priccaciante of Old Bridge; and Mark Hammond of Manalapan; her nieces, Lynn Priccaciante of Matawan; Tina Priccaciante of Old Bridge; Bernadette Hammond of Marlboro; her great nieces, Patricia Lynn Scully of Matawan; Alexandra Seaman of Matawan; a great nephew, Tyler Murphy; and a great-great nephew, Mason Scully.

SCHNEIDER, Paul, 88, of Keyport, passed away Sunday, June 29, 2008, at Lourdes Hospital , Willingboro .  

Born in Newfield, he resided in the Camden area, before moving to Keyport 60 years ago.  He had been employed with American Smelting and Refinery Company, Perth Amboy , for 30 years, before retiring in 1980.  He was also co-owner, with his wife Emily, of Emily’s Store, Keyport, for 50 years.  He served our country in the Army during WWII and was a Chapter One POW.  He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans; the American Legion Post 23 and the VFW #4247; a former member of the Republican and Democratic Clubs; and a communicant of St. Joseph ’s RC Church, Keyport.

Paul was predeceased by his wife, Emily, in 2000; his parents, George W. and Emma (Robinson) Schneider; seven brothers and four sisters.  Surviving is a son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Suzanne Schneider, Cliffwood Beach ; and a sister, Emma Watson, Cherry Hill; a niece, Cathy Hubler of Cinnaminson , who was a very big part of his life; and many other nieces and cousins.

Edward Raymond Francy Sr., 87, beloved husband of 60 years to the late Myra Ann O'Donnell Francy, formerly of Red Bank, passed away Monday, June 30th, in New Haven, CT, just six weeks after his wife's passing. 

He was born April 16, 1921 in Matawan, NJ, to the late Thomas and Jane Haley Francy. Edward grew up in Matawan and lived there until 1998 before moving to Red Bank.  In 2006, he and his wife moved to Cheshire, CT.  He graduated from St. Mary's High School in South Amboy. When WW II began, Edward joined the Navy and served in the South Pacific with the Construction Battalion ("Sea Bees"). Among the projects that his battalion worked on was the construction of the air strip at Guadalcanal, where he had the honor of shaking hands with Eleanor Roosevelt. Following his discharge, he attended Rutgers University.  For 43 years he worked for DuPont doing photographic research until retiring in 1982.  Edward served on the Matawan Planning Board, was head of Citizens for Kennedy in Matawan during the 1960 campaign. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Club 60, a life long parishioner of St. Joseph's Church, and Disabled American Veterans.  He had a passion for politics and was always keenly interested in political news.  When Edward was not working, he and his wife always enjoyed a good party, especially if there was dancing.  After retirement they enjoyed traveling, both abroad and in the US.  Edward was friendly, outgoing, and enjoyed the company of others.  He was a good story teller and was always the life of the party.  

He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. Edward leaves his daughter, Colette Vargas and her husband John of Irvington, NY; a son, Edward R. Francy Jr. and his wife Mary Beth of Wallingford, CT; and two grandchildren, Charlotte and Carter Francy.

Friends may visit Wed., July 2nd from 6 to 9 p.m. at Day Funeral Home, 361 Maple Place, Keyport.  A Funeral Service will take place at 9:45 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, followed by a 10:30 a.m.  Mass of Christian Burial at St. Joseph's Church.  Interment will follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery.
